Cottonwood Club - Helena Montanan
Helena, Montana’s Cottonwood Club plays an irresistible mix of string jazz from with roots in the ‘Hot Club’ style of Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli. The band’s tune list includes many favorites from The Great American Songbook and beyond, as well as a growing list of original tunes. Cottonwood Club has been a mainstay of the western Montana music scene since their inception in 2012, playing a monthly residency (the first Wednesday of each month) at Helena’s On Broadway that continues on after nine years.

Montana Manouche - Bozeman Montana
Montana Manouche is a Bozeman-based quartet that plays music in the style of Django Reinhardt and the Hot Club of France. Django Reinhardt was born in Belgium, in 1910, in a nomadic caravan, to Manouche parents. Manouche is the branch of the Romani people that settled in France, and Django’s music is known as Jazz Manouche. Ray Padilla (rhythm guitar) and Mike Carey (string bass) provide Montana Manouche’s swinging, danceable groove. Nancy Padilla (violin) and Eric Lange (lead guitar and vocals) complete the quartet. In 2019, Montana Manouche released a CD entitled Live, which includes tracks recorded at the 2018 Big Sky Django Jazz festival, held in Billings. The band is excited and honored to be part of the festival!

Night Blooming Jasmine started playing together as a quartet in Missoula, Montana in 2016. Now a 7-piece swing powerhouse, Night Blooming Jasmine electrifies the stage with their own blend Hot Club Swing, adding a heavy dose of Ella Fitzgerald inspired vocals. NBJ features the unapologetic voice of Whitni Kent, Geoffrey Taylor on violin, and John Rosett on mandolin, Angie Janzen on Accordion, Jon Schick on lead guitar, Jasper on rhythm guitar, and Jeff Turman on double bass.
